Mopar Custom Shops and virtual upgrades coming

by David Zatz on

Mopar’s largest car-show exhibit to date will be at the Detroit Auto Show next week, with 5,500 square feet of display including an “augmented reality customization application” (iPads showing virtual images for customizing a Ram 1500).

The setup will include a Custom Shop, which lets buyers customize their car or truck at the factory. This is a new feature for Chrysler; not only can buyers order Mopar options to be installed at the factory, but the cost is reflected in financing packages, the warranty covers the items, and they are listed in the Monroney (price/window) sticker.

Every North American Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and SRT factory already has a Mopar Custom Shop, ready to personalize any vehicle sold in the United States.  Pietro Gorlier said that options could include “electronic tracking systems, our in-vehicle wireless charging, racing stripes, bed-liners or any number of quality Mopar performance parts and accessories, and now with the Mopar Custom Shop they can have everything factory installed and ready to drive home just the way they want it.”

A vehicle going through the Mopar Custom Shop is covered by the warranty.  Mopar Custom Shop display examples will include the Mopar ’14 Dodge Challenger, SRT Viper, Fiat 500L Thalassa, Jeep Wrangler Recon, Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver, and Ram 3500 Dually CASE Work Truck.
