Mopar tapped for worldwide Fiat, Alfa spare parts

by David Zatz on

Mopar for FiatThe Mopar brand is being used by Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia worldwide for factory replacement parts,  replacing the original “Ricambi Originali” (Fiat Original Parts) tag.

Pietro Gorlier told Allpar years ago that the Mopar brand would be used by Fiat for aftermarket parts, but using the brand worldwide for factory replacement parts started around a year ago, according to Automotive NewsThe change applies to roughly 120 countries for Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia, but does not appear to include the high-end Maserati and Ferrari brands. In most countries, few people know of the Mopar brand name or its association with Chrysler.

Allpar forum member MJAB wrote, “The warranty extension program is also named for Mopar, at least in Italy; it uses the English words ‘Maximum Care, Powertrain Care, and FreetoGo (the roadside assistance program).’”

Within the United States, Magnetti Marelli has been phased in to provide many replacement parts, such as filters, brakes, and such; the Fiat-owned parts company is worldwide in scope, though relatively unknown by most Americans, and makes parts for a wide range of cars including American, Asian, and European brands.
