Shaker scheduled?

by David Zatz on

The 2014 Dodge “Shaker Package” was promised for early 2014, and it appears that the Brampton plant is ready to build it, too — but not the Mopar ’14, if today’s news is reliable.

The AZS Shaker package has been scheduled for production starting at the end of January; the Mopar ’14, oddly, doesn’t seem to be ready yet, with production slated for early May 2014.

In November, a Chrysler rep sent this clarification from the initial press release:

The new 2014 Challenger R/T Shaker will arrive at Dodge dealerships in the first-quarter of 2014, with pricing for this very well-equipped model starting at just $36,995 U.S. MSRP ($37,495 with the custom one-of-a-kind hood-to-tail stripes), … only $2,500 from the Challenger R/T Classic for all of the unique features of this limited production model.

It often takes weeks for models to go from factory to dealerships, and sometimes holds are put onto shipments of special editions so they can be launched once a critical mass has been built.

The company will build just one hundred Mopar ’14 Challengers, but is expected to have 2,000 Dodge Challenger R/T Shakers as well; the package is also to be sold by Mopar Performance for retrofits. Aftermarket suppliers have already created their own shaker hood re-creations

A new “black vapor” package is also set up for midyear production on Charger and Challenger.
