Increased testing for 200

by David Zatz on

“Mr. Source” has told Allpar that the 2015 Chrysler 200 is undergoing more severe testing than many past cars, as the company faces less than ideal survey numbers on early-production 2013 Dodge Darts. The 200 is reportedly being tested thoroughly both within and outside the United States, and production is set to ramp up slowly. “Every day, almost all day and night long, there are 200s being tested.  There were many changes made to the process and the car.”

While quality has been a priority since Sergio Marchionne started leading Chrysler, and most indications are that there have been major improvements, making the 200 rock-solid is essential in the Consumer Reports-driven midsize-sedan world. The car is a key vehicle for the company, thrown into one of the largest market segments in America — a market long dominated by Toyota and Honda. Chrysler had a major share and top-rated entry in the 1990s, but the company’s share has fallen since then.

David Zatz founded Allpar in 1998 (based on a site he had begun in 1993-94), after years of writing reviews for retail trades. He has been quoted by the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Detroit News, and USA Today. Before making Allpar a full-time career, he was a consultant in organizational psychology.
