Challenger R/T Shakers sold out

by David Zatz on

Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker cars, with functional (that is, funneling cold air into the engine) “Shaker” hoods have begun to make their way to Dodge dealers across the country. Dealers ordered the entire production run for the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker in just four days.

The first shipment spotted by observers was car #19, a Plum Crazy purple model, which Hal told us was being sold by Henkel Chrysler-Dodge in Battle Creek, Michigan.

The Shaker cars have an engine-mounted scoop and exposed conical high-flow element for real cold-air induction. The package has weather sealing, with hoses set up to carry away any water that might get in through the seal.  The scoop shakes with the powertrain’s movement, though one has to floor the gas to make it shake, the price one pays for tight engine mounts and well-tuned, balanced engines.

In addition to Challenger R/Ts, there will be one hundred Mopar ’14s built with the Shaker hoods.
