The face of Hellcat

by David Zatz on

Covering Springfest for Allpar, Ray Alexander captured this photo of the T-shirts worn by the SRT staff, which Allpar was told by unofficial sources is the logo for the new HellCat V8 engine. This supercharged, 6.2-liter powerplant is rumored to best Viper peak numbers, with over 650 horsepower; it will likely max out at around 640 lb-ft of torque to fit comfortably within the eight-speed transmission’s limits (though, with a Tremec six-speed manual, it could presumably have more power.)

Ralph Gilles told Mr. Alexander that the Challenger would be shown in around two and a half months, but most sources believe a 2015 Challenger, at least, will be shown at the New York Auto Show on April 16 or April 17.

David Zatz founded Allpar in 1998 (based on a site he had begun in 1993-94), after years of writing reviews for retail trades. He has been quoted by the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Detroit News, and USA Today. Before making Allpar a full-time career, he was a consultant in organizational psychology.
