Jeep mini-pickup?

by David Zatz on

Jeep Rebel small pickup

JackRatchett provided this speculative rendering of a Jeep pickup based on the Renegade. He wrote, “There’s a concept Fiat 500 based pickup at the CTC, so they must have been playing with the idea of a compact pickup.”

A vehicle like this would be a niche vehicle, but it would be a worldwide niche vehicle, with relatively small sales possibly adding up to big numbers — and putting more laid-off Fiat employees back to work. The plant which makes the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X probably has enough capacity to handle a hundred thousand or so more vehicles per year.

A metric-ton pickup based on a Ram platform was in the company’s long-term plan, but has now been dropped due to low forecast demand.
