Another electrical recall

by David Zatz on

Following on the heels of a recall of large 2011-14 cars and medium-sized 2011-14 SUVs,  Chrysler is recalling around 437,000 2011-13 Jeep Wranglers to move an electrical connection.

The company itself started an investigation after learning of three cases in which a wiring harness for a power side-view mirror showed signs of overheating. All three cases took place in Canada and were related to cold weather driving.  No injuries or accidents have been reported.

The investigation revealed that a connector may get wet, causing a partial short. To avoid this, the power feed will be changed and the existing connection given a shield.

The recall is free to customers, and affects only 2011-13 Wranglers.
