Cargo van recall

Chrysler is recalling around 22,115 Ram C/V cargo vans to upgrade the airbag software, following an internal investigation which found that some configurations could cause unwanted deployment. The company said it knew of no related injuries or accidents.

The Ram C/V is based on the Dodge Caravan, but certain configurations, designed around cargo, remove the rear audio and climate control centers; the gaps can create a resonance which can, under some conditions, trigger unexpected airbag deployment. A free software upgrade will be ready soon. The issue affects 2013-2015 Ram C/V Tradesman vans; most owners are fleet customers. They will be contacted by the company, or can call 1-800-853-1403 for details.
