CEO, Chair’s letter to FCA employees

by David Zatz on

The following letter was sent out above Sergio Marchionne’s (FCA CEO) and John Elkann’s (FCA chair) signatures.  The company also told employees at both Fiat and Chrysler that they would have a new FCA email address, though certain units (Maserati, Comau, Ferrari, etc) are exempt.

Sergio Marchionne and John Elkann

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past five and a half years, we have taken several very important steps together.

Each of those steps has made us stronger and more conscious of the Group’s value.

They have taught us to trust in ourselves and our colleagues, even those who perhaps work on the other side of the world but couldn’t be closer.

We are united by the courage to embrace challenge.

We are united by the common values of respect and humility, by the desire to share knowledge and experience, by our ability to be open to new experiences and to see cultural differences as the greatest source of growth for the Group and everyone in it.

What most makes us kindred spirits, however, is the conviction that the best part of the story is yet to be written.

Today, with the formal creation of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and our listing on Wall Street, we are embarking on a new venture as one company with a global horizon and unlimited possibilities before us.

As destiny would have it, today is also Columbus Day, the annual commemoration of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in America.

But unlike him, we haven’t come as discoverers.

We have come to participate, to learn and share, not as interlopers or tourists, but with a common vision and with respect and appreciation for each other.

For Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, this Columbus Day marks the beginning of a new world and a new era.

An era in which we have finally overcome our cultural and geographic limitations.

An era in which, as the seventh largest automaker in the world, we are a global organization not just in numbers, but also in the spirit, mentality and ambitions of our people.

We want to thank all of you for your contribution so far and for the part you are about to play as we work together to build a future of which generations to come can be truly proud.
