Chrysler de Mexico sets records

by Bill Cawthon on

Chrysler de Mexico recorded 9,012 sales last month, setting a sales record for the year.

“Last month, our Jeep and Ram brands stood out by posting double-digit increases, due primarily to products launched this year, such as the Jeep Cherokee and Ram 700. Both vehicles have something in common; they raise the bar on their segments,” said Bruno Cattori, CEO of Chrysler de Mexico. “We will continue working in order to bring vehicles with the best quality and performance to the market.”

Chrysler brand had its best sales of the year with 617 deliveries, including 205 Chrysler 200 sedans, in November while the Jeep brand racked up 2,501 units, a 13% increase over November 2013.

Ram brand set another record, finishing the month 44% ahead of last November and the Ram Crew Cab had its best-ever sales month with 998 sales. Dealers sold 504 Ram 700 compact pickups

Dodge brand sales hit 1,440 last month with the lion’s share going to the Dodge Journey, which established a sales record for the year with 1,198 deliveries. Challenger sales rose 16%.

Fiat and Alfa Romeo combined to sell 697 cars in November. Sales of the Fiat 500 totaled 423 for the month.

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
