This morning, Chrysler reported U.S. sales of 170,839 units, up 20% from last November. The company’s 56th consecutive month of sales growth was also the best November for Chrysler since 2001, and it easily beat analysts’ forecasts.

With a month left to go, total year-to-date sales of Chrysler brands (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram) already exceed total-year Chrysler Group sales for every year since 2008.

All brands reported year-over-year growth, led by the 31% jump in Ram sales, which hit their highest November volume since 2003.

Reid Bigland, Head of U.S. Sales, pointed out, “…we had 11 vehicles last month that set new sales records. Calendar year to date, Chrysler Group remains the fastest growing automaker in the country.”

Among the records were best-ever monthly sales for the current-generation Dodge Dart, the Ram ProMaster, and the Ram Cargo Van.

November benchmarks were set by the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Patriot, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Journey, Fiat 500L, Ram pickup, and the Chrysler 200, which also had its best month of 2014. Jeep, as a whole, set a new November sales record.

Making its appearance on a U.S. sales report for the first time since 1995, Alfa Romeo posted 24 sales of the 4C.

Chrysler Group finished November with a 80-day supply (549,086 vehicles). U.S. industry sales figures for November are internally projected at an estimated 17.5 million units Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate.

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for just-auto.com, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
