The new Renegade is already having an impact on Jeep’s international sales figures.

Now in its third month on the market, the Renegade posted 1,549 deliveries in October, 7.9% of total Jeep deliveries outside of the NAFTA region. The Renegade’s share of November international sales rose to 10.4% with 2,491 registrations.

According to Ariel Gavilan with FCA US LLC, the Renegade is sold primarily in Europe, so the impact on Jeep’s outstanding November results is significant. International automotive industry analyst JATO Dynamics noted: “Jeep more than doubled its sales compared to November 2013 on the back of an excellent month for its Renegade and Cherokee models.”

Gavilan went on to say the Renegade is an ideal vehicle for the European, Chinese, and Latin American markets. In addition to the main production site at the FCA plant in Melfi, Italy, the Renegade will be assembled in Brazil for Latin America.

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for just-auto.com, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
