Forza to use Chargers in expansion pack

by Patrick Rall on

The makers of the open world driving game Forza Horizon 2 (FH2) have announced that their upcoming Fast and the Furious expansion pack for FH2 will feature a collection of vintage and modern Mopars, including the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T. This marks the first appearance of the redesigned Charger in a video game, and while we haven’t gotten a look at the 2015 Charger in FH2, the video announcing the Fast & Furious expansion pack includes the customized 1970 Dodge Charger R/T that will join the new performance sedan.

“Forza is synonymous with racing and fun, so it’s only natural for us to work with one of the most celebrated automotive entertainment franchises in the world,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. “This is a great way to bring Forza players into the world of Fast & Furious, and in Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, every fan will get a chance to go wheels-first into the exciting action of the Fast & Furious franchise.”

This add-on to the Forza Horizon 2 driving simulator is technically called “Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious,” and while the full details haven’t been announced, the website lists of some of the vehicles that will be included. Joining the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T and the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T shown in the video below are other Mopars, including the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, the 1970 Plymouth Cuda, the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and, from the “other side,” the 2014 Maserati Ghibli S. While some of these vehicles have already been included in the game, the ones for the Fast & Furious package will have a unique look and probably have unique power levels.

Non-Chrysler related cars included in the early car list for Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious include the 2012 Nissan GT-R in the preview video and the 1998 Toyota Supra.

When the Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious arrives in the Xbox Live store on March 27th, Xbox Live Gold members can get it for free, until April 10. After April 10, the expansion pack will still be available, but it will cost $10. If you want to drive the 2015 Charger R/T or any of those other Mopar and FCA vehicles – make a note to “buy” the Fast & Furious expansion package on March 27th.

In the meantime, check out the video below announcing the Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious expansion pack, featuring the customized 1970 Charger.
