Mopar’s super bowl ads

by Michael Dickens on

FCA aired three Super Bowl spots this year. The first, for the 2016 Fiat 500X crossover, aired during the two-minute warning near the conclusion of the first half. The other two (for Dodge and the Jeep Renegade) ran during the third quarter of the Super Bowl broadcast.

  • “The Fiat 500X Blue Pill,” filmed in Italy, originally debuted in a longer-form video at the Paris Motor Show in October and later at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It suggested that we should “hold out for a little longer.” The voice-over said it’s “bigger, more powerful, and ready for action.”
  • In “Wisdom,” commemorating the century mark of the Dodge brand, a one-minute spot honored centenarians who laughed heartily and grinned big in front of the camera while handing out timely nuggets of wisdom on life and fast cars. “Live for now … Because life is good, you make it good.” The theme was simple but earnest: “You learn a lot in 100 years … Here’s to the next 100. Born Dodge. So, here’s to putting the pedal to the metal … and never, ever forgetting where we came from.”

  • “Beautiful Lands,” a 90-second spot (the longest of the three ads) featuring the iconic “This Land is Your Land,” sung by American singer/songwriter Marc Scibilia, marked the advertising launch of the 2015 Jeep Renegade in the U.S. and celebrated Jeep’s global vision with an epic journey around the world. Think freedom and reverence.
“Beautiful Lands” was filmed in more than 10 countries, including the U.S., Italy, Brazil, China, Spain, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Thailand, India, and United Arab Emirates, over 19 days and throughout more than 40 world locations covering approximately 73,777 miles. As part of the campaign, Jeep is driving global awareness of A tagline at the conclusion of the ad shows an affirmative message: “Water is life. Help provide it.”
