by Bill Cawthon on

The former Chrysler Canada hit its 63rd consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth last month. This is the longest sales streak in Chrysler Canada / FCA Canada’s history.

It was a squeaker: February light vehicle sales were up 1.5% to 18,621 units, just 271 vehicles ahead of last February.

Jeep sales rose 2% to 4,282 units sold, just enough to set a new February record. Jeep has now set a sales record every month since February 2014.

For the second month in a row, the Cherokee was the best-selling Jeep in Canada with 1,474 delivered — 9% ahead of last year and a monthly sales record.

February 2015 was the 27th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth for Ram, with 6,204 sales, up 10.8% and also a new monthly sales record for the brand.

In addition to the light vehicles there were 90 Ram 4500/5500 heavy-duty trucks sold in Canada last month, down 48% from February 2014. So far this year sales of the Class 4 and 5 chassis-cabs are down 28.5%.

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for just-auto.com, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
