Ver Hage Mopar Museum Opening

by David Zatz on

The Ver Hage Mopar Museum will be re-opening tomorrow, according to roving photographer and former Chrysler technician Marc Rozman. The museum includes a large collection of Chrysler Corporation cars, as well as sales literature from the Ver Hage of Holland (Michigan) dealership. Lloyd Ver Hage still has the Jeepster he got when he was 18.

Ver Hage is run by, in Mr. Rozman’s words, “die hard Mopar people,” who started distributing Chrysler cars in 1928 and opened their Holland franchise in 1963; their dealership was closed down during the bankruptcy proceedings. A local Honda dealer was given a Chrysler franchise, making a comeback by Ver Hage unlikely.

They had a museum before, but a local energy company needed to expand into the property, so the family struck a deal and they moved the building to another section of their property. The ribbon cutting is tomorrow, with a big car show there in September.

Like the Walter P. Chrysler Museum, the Ver Hage collection is not generally open to the public, but may be seen during special events and by arrangement.

The younger Ver Hages, Norm and Blaine, bought a Mitsubishi franchise and are still in business. For more, see our Ver Hage museum page.
