Are Built-In Ram Ramps Coming?

by David Zatz on

Ram has been working on a few new concepts lately, moving from visible features (RamBox) to the invisible (attacking parasitic losses, heating up the transmission fluid earlier) and back to the visible. The latest is built-in ramps for moving things into pickup beds.

Ram ramps

Steven St. Laurent pointed us to patent 9,067,525, granted on June 30 (following a 2014 application), which has a ramp that slides into the bed and tailgate for stowage.  The inventors were Deyan Ninov, Joseph Dehner, and Gregory Howell, all Michigan residents.

When — or whether — the system is produced is unknown. Many ideas are floated, but not all turn out to be practical, for financial and durability reasons.
