HDDT: Two Likely Candidates

by David Zatz on

Recently, FCA US trademarked the term “HDDT,” apparently intending to use it for vehicle trim. While our first article had some thoughts on its meaning, as applied to Ram (e.g. Heavy Duty Diesel Truck), Allpar forum members considered the possibility of hybrids, since one is coming on the new minivans.

HDDT

wdundas suggested “Hybrid Dual Drive Transmission,” presumably on the assumption that FCA would return to the GM-Chrysler-BMW hybrid-within-a-transmission idea (briefly used in the old Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen).  Jackratchett, on the other hand, suggested “Hybrid Dual Drive Technology,” which would allow for the rumored gasoline powered front wheel drive minivans with electric motors for the rear wheels.
