Jeep’s share of the European market increased 142% compared to June 2014.

Looking at the last three Junes, the additions of the Cherokee and Renegade have driven Jeep brand deliveries up 358% and market share has grown 287% since June 2013.

Jeep registrations soared in each of the five major European markets. They were up 309% in Italy, 53% in Germany, 491% in France, 161% in the United Kingdom and 358% in Spain.

For the first six months of 2015, the additional Jeep sales accounted for 54% of the increase in total Fiat Chrysler volume.

Fiat brand sales also outperformed the market in June, rising 15% compared to a 14% increase in total June volume. The 500X, the Fiat clone of the Jeep Renegade, was also a big player with 7,600 sales. The two Melfi-built SUVs made up nearly 15% of all FCA registrations last month.

The Fiat 500 was the best-selling vehicle in its segment with more than 19,200 deliveries. The Cinquecento has now passed the 100,000-unit mark in total 2015 sales.

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for just-auto.com, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
