2011-14 Charger recall: Don’t slam or kick the doors

by David Zatz on

Dodge is recalling over 300,000 Chargers whose side airbags and seat belt pre-tensioners may suddenly deploy with a door slam or kick, not long after recalling some trucks for the same reason.

The defect, related to low trigger thresholds on the sensors, has not resulted in any known crashes, but there have been at least three minor injuries; complaints account for under 0.01% of affected cars, and the closely related 300 and Challenger do not have the same problem.

Customers will be told when they can schedule service, and in the meantime have been asked, in essence, not to slam their doors too hard.
