Dodge Plum Crazy cars coming, sales by color revealed

by David Zatz on

For this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise, Dodge will re-debut Plum Crazy.

Since 1970, Plum Crazy has been one of the most desired paint colors for the Dodge Challenger and Charger (though, in sales, not the most popular). The unique color is directly associated with high collectability.

Dodge dealers will take orders in September for the 2016 Dodge Challenger or Charger in Plum Crazy, with production beginning this November.

2016 Plum Crazy Purple Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger

Models available with Plum Crazy are the Dodge Challenger and Charger. For Challenger, it is available on the SXT Plus and above, which range from 305 to 707 horsepower, and are available with a choice of eight-speed automatics or, on V8s, a six-speed manual. Power is unchanged from 2015, with the 5.7 Hemi at 375 hp, the 6.4 at 485 hp, and the 6.2 at 707 hp.

For the Charger, it is available on Charger SXT with 20-inch wheels and above. Charger V6 has 292 or 300 horsepower; the 5.7 has 370 hp, the 6.4 has 485, and the 6.2 has 707 hp. All Chargers have eight-speed automatics.

Dodge also released production for each model year, for Chargers and Challengers in “specialty colors.” See the production charts for Dodge Chargers and the production charts for Dodge Challengers. (We will be expanding these pages.)
