Last DAMM meet of 2015 next weekend

by Bill Cawthon on

Next Sunday, September 20, the Detroit Area Modern Mopars (DAMM) will hold their final meet of 2015 on the grounds of the Walter P. Chrysler Museum at 1 Chrysler Drive in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The event kicks off around noon and is open to owners of all MOPAR or MOPAR-related vehicles, including Alfa Romeo, AMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, Plymouth and Ram brands. They will even welcome those with Lancias and Mitsubishis.

DAMM-A-WebDAMM was formed in November of 2013 to create a family of MOPAR enthusiasts. Beginning with a handful of members, the group has grown to a Facebook community of 1,488 that includes Fiat Chrysler employees, aftermarket suppliers (including Katzkin), professional detailers, car wrap and decal shop owners, Chrysler salesmen and even a few FCA professional designers.

The group requests that all participants be respectful to the hosts and their property. Drivers are required to operate their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.

Thanks to DAMM and Ryan Goimarac for the info and photos from past events

Bill Cawthon grew up in the auto industry in the 1950s. His Dad worked for Chrysler and Bill spent a number of Saturdays down on the plant floor at Dodge Main in Hamtramck. Bill is also the U.S. market correspondent for, a British auto industry publication, and a member of the Texas Auto Writers Association, which has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the “SUV of Texas” several times and named the Ram 1500 as the “Truck of Texas” two years running.

Bill has owned five Plymouths (including the only 1962 “Texan”), one Dodge and one Chrysler and is still trying to figure out how to justify a Wrangler. He also has owned at least one of every 1:87 scale model of a Chrysler product. You can reach him directly at (206) 888-7324 or by using the form.
