Toluca plant next for re-fit

by David Zatz on

A trusted Allpar source wrote that the Toluca, Mexico plant is next in line for a re-fit, and that supplies of the 2016 Dodge Journey and Fiat 500 have been built up to prevent shortages.

The plant will shut down around the end of January, and re-open in May. It will continue to build the same product when it comes back on-line.

Toluca has traditionally been a high quality plant, and has in recent years also made the Neon and PT Cruiser. The latter was highly rated for build quality. However, insiders have noted that the plant is not as automated as other facilities, and other plants have been dramatically modernized to slash energy use and environmental impact, while increasing flexibility. Via “Ram Man.”
