Mopar’s winter wheel/tire assemblies

by David Zatz on

Mopar has launched new steel wheels with included snow tires for owners of certain cars who may want a relatively fuss-free, well-matched combination. The use of steel is good for winter pot-holes and salt resistance, and mounting tires on devoted rims means that owners can simply swap a new set on in the winter — as many already do.

Tire Rack has long sold winter tire/wheel combinations, but the Mopar rig is likely to have been better tested for each particular vehicle.  The Mopar setup also includes tire pressure monitoring sensors, and the tires are pre-balanced. List prices range from $242 to $292 per wheel (dealer mounting is extra). A sample set is TMI91224RA and TMI91224LA (right and left) for the 2014-16 Chrysler 300 AWD; the tires on these are the 225/60R18 104H Micheline X-Ice Xi3.

FCA does not have the wheels listed on its web site, and Allpar’s searches for various part numbers at discount dealer web sites did not turn up any matches; a spokesman advised interested buyers to talk with their local dealer.
