Compass in Toluca’s future

by David Zatz on

In yesterday’s earnings call, FCA confirmed that the Toluca, Mexico plant will be shut down for retooling so it can produce the Jeep Compass replacement (which we believe will also be called Compass).

Allpar sources wrote about the closure and Compass’ build location earlier this year.

The Compass is believed to be closely related to the Jeep Renegade and the planned, announced Chrysler 100 small car — a car whose future may be in some doubt.

The Toluca plant has, in recent years, made Neon coupes, PT Cruisers, Dodge Journeys, and Fiat 500s.

David Zatz founded Allpar in 1998 (based on a site he had begun in 1993-94), after years of writing reviews for retail trades. He has been quoted by the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Detroit News, and USA Today. Before making Allpar a full-time career, he was a consultant in organizational psychology.
