Today’s recalls: serious, but no crashes

by David Zatz on

FCA US discovered that a number of left front brake calipers were not made to their specifications, and is recalling over 15,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos (2015-16). The supplier notified FCA of the issue, after discovering that some may not work properly in an “extreme braking event.” Eight have been found so far, but there have been no known injuries, accidents, or complaints.

In addition, 508 Ram 1500 pickups (also 2015-16) are being recalled due to possible problems with the electric power steering computers, which may cause lack of power assistance (drivers can still steer).  Again, the company is not aware of any related accidents.

In both cases, customers will be contacted, or can also call FCA at 800-853-1403.
