FCA: Surprise US sales gain (with chart)

by David Zatz on

FCA US LLC, the former Chrysler Group, sold 197,073 cars and trucks in June, 7% over June 2015 and the best June sales in 11 years. Jeep, Dodge, and Ram all posted gains, led by Jeep’s 17% hike — the best June ever for Jeep.

The Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Renegade had their best June sales ever — despite Patriot and Compass coming close to the end of their long run.

Over at Chrysler, Pacifica sales beat the Town & Country minivan, 7,207 to 6,054; Town & Country sales were only down by 27%.  Chrysler, as a brand, only failed to have a sales gain because 200 plummeted from a rebate-supported 18,560 to 7,817. At that, it was still the best selling Chrysler — though combining the two minivans would bring sales of 13,261.

At Dodge, Dart sales fell to half of June 2015, landing at 3,305, making them the least-selling Dodge other than the Viper. The top selling Dodge remains the Caravan, with sales up 79%. The Journey was #2, at 9,785, essentially unchanged from last year.

The large car trio fell short, 300 by 7%, Charger by 19%, and Challenger by 20%. The two Dodges are much better sellers than the pricier 300.

Ram pickup sales shot up by 14%, to 38,126, making it by far the company’s best seller. The #2 seller was the Wrangler, and #3 and #4 were also Jeeps.

ProMaster sales fell slightly (by 5%) to 2,113, but ProMaster City sales more than doubled to 997. Fiat continued to fall, down 19%, to 2,544 for three different models (excluding a single Fiat 124 sale).
