Roadkill Nights hits Detroit tomorrow

by Patrick Rall on

The second of this year’s Roadkill Nights by Dodge events is set to take place tomorrow, August 19, at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, with the key attraction being the legal street racing on Woodward Avenue.

Gates open at noon for racers, show’n’shine cars and the general public, and at 1pm, the racing action on Woodward Ave begins. From 1pm to 10pm, some 350 cars will make drag passes on a section of Woodward while tens of thousands of spectators look on. During the racing action, there is a huge car show area with over 1,000 vehicles expected, Dodge thrill rides in the Hellcat Challenger, the Hellcat Charger and the Dodge Viper and an array of Dodge-themed exhibits.

Admission is free for spectators and show’n’shine participants while the racers all paid $50 in advance (racing entries are sold out and registration is closed).

The Roadkill Nights by Dodge was amazing last year, especially for something that is free. There will be food to purchase on site, but the majority of the Dodge-themed exhibits – including the thrill rides – are free. For those who cannot make it, Allpar will be on hand to capture the action.

The Hellcat powered classic Dodge Charger shown above was the star of last year’s event, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see General Mayhem make an appearance this year.

Patrick Rall was raised a Mopar boy, spending years racing a Dodge Mirada while working his way through college. After spending a few years post-college in the tax accounting field, Patrick made the jump to the world of journalism and his work has been published in magazines and websites around the world.
