Oopsies: Hellcat AWD rumors

by David Zatz on

Through no fault of its own, respected industry weekly Automotive News has spurred rumors of an all wheel drive Hellcat Challenger which Allpar sources say is definitely not going to happen. Indeed, careful reading of the source shows Automotive News never said that, either, but two of the most widely-read Internet car journals have gone with the story.

What reporter Larry Vellequette actually wrote was that the Dodge Challenger GT AWD would be its first V6 all wheel drive Challenger. This would be followed by a Hellcat-powered Challenger ADR. Mr. Vellequette never actually said that the Challenger ADR would be all wheel drive — a tall order for a 707 horsepower car.
