First look at Wrangler JL hood? (updated)

by David Zatz on

The AEV Conversions forums have a photo of what some are calling 2018 Jeep Wrangler “JL” hood. A member had purchased the hood at a recycling yard in the Detroit region, thinking it was a 2014 Hard Rock part; it turns out to be around two inches longer than the stock hood, matching what has been seen of JL mules in spy shots.

The recycling yard took the hood back.  There are more photos at the AEV Conversions forum.

It’s possible that the hood is not from a JL at all, but from an unrelated concept or mule; Jeep has generated a large number of both. However, in early JL testing, the cowl was extended by two inches (to make space for the eight-speed automatic), explaining why the hood is 2″ longer; it’s also a bit taller from the side profile than the JK hood. Thanks, Jason De Monto
