First Levante recall

by David Zatz on

The Maserati Levante has racked up its very first American recall, with 1,515 Levante S models being brought back under Maserati Recall 338. At fault is the engine software, which can cause a shift to neutral or a stall when the crossover is traveling at around two miles per hour.

The problem is most likely to occur during heavy stop and go traffic. The recall came about after Maserati received a single complaint from a customer in China; the company tried reproducing it from October to November 2016, and developed a software solution through December. The recall was issued on December 14 and customers were notified starting January 6.

David Zatz founded Allpar in 1998 (based on a site he had begun in 1993-94), after years of writing reviews for retail trades. He has been quoted by the New York Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Detroit News, and USA Today. Before making Allpar a full-time career, he was a consultant in organizational psychology.
