New Compass shipping soon

The Jeep Compass has been launched in the Toluca, Mexico plant which used to make, among other cars, Neons, PT Cruisers, and, most recently, Fiat 500s and Dodge Journeys.

For the moment, sources told us it is exclusively devoted to the Compass, though that presumably may change if inventories of the older cars fall before new models arrive.

Shipments to U.S. dealers are to begin next week, with around two months devoted to slowly “ramping up” — increasing production a little at a time to avoid quality glitches.
