Small 2016-17 Ram recall

by David Zatz on

Ram is recalling around 30 2016-17 Ram 1500s to fix the differential pin retaining screw, which can come loose while driving — possibly causing either breakdown or full lockup. Recall T20 should launch on May 7; U.S. owners can call Ram at 800-853-1403, or search for their VIN on the government web site.

There are very few pickups with the problem, which arose because the bolt was not tightened sufficiently. Axles affected have the 3.92, 3.55, and 3.21 ratios; the trucks were built from July 11 to November 11, 2016. The axles themselves were made by ZF.
