Dodge, Vin Diesel in “Brotherhood of Muscle”

by Patrick Rall on

Dodge announced today that their newest spokesman is Fast and Furious lead man Vin Diesel, who appears in and provides the voiceover for a new series of commercials as part of the “Brotherhood of Muscle” marketing campaign.

Vin Diesel is best known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious movie series. In all of those movies, Dom drives as least one beefed up Mopar muscle car, beginning with a supercharged 1970 Dodge Charger. Along with a handful of other Mopar muscle cars and many new Dodge performance cars, Vin Diesel’s character has driven some variety of a worked second-generation Charger in almost every movie.

With all of that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Vin Diesel has come on board to star in a trio of new Dodge commercials as part of their Brotherhood of Muscle marketing campaign. Of course, in addition to his role as a Dodge-driving Dominic in the Fast and Furious series, Diesel is also a pretty huge dude – so the “muscle theme” extends well beyond the cars.

Brotherhood of Muscle
Dodge has positioned itself as the ultimate high performance automaker in the US market, with the Dodge Challenger, the Dodge Charger, the Dodge Viper and the Dodge Durango all being among the quickest, fastest and most powerful options in their respective segment. The Challenger comes in 305, 375, 485, 707 and 840 horsepower form. The Charger comes with 292, 370, 485 or 707 horsepower. The Durango comes with 295, 360 or 485 horsepower and the Viper – even as the model prepares to leave the lineup – is one of the greatest supercars in the world with 645hp from a V10 engine.

The campaign’s director is Marc Forster (World War Z); it kicks off this week with three ads featuring Vin Diesel behind the wheels of a variety of high performance Dodges, including the Hellcat Challenger, the Durango SRT. and the Hellcat Charger.

These new commercials also feature the Dodge Charger Daytona, Challenger T/A, and even the Dodge Journey GT. They have a “fast and furious feel”, with the cars performing all sorts of high performance stunts while Dominic Toretto reminds muscle car lovers why we love these vehicles so much.

There are two thirty-second spots and one full-minute ad. Vin Diesel’s popularity could help make these commercials more popular outside of the Mopar enthusiast community.
