The new 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition will “take truck opulence to the highest level,” with another boost in interior trim, according to today’s announcement. Ram chief Mike Manley said the new Limited Tungsten Edition will be the brand’s highest trim level — and that its launch was based on customer demand.
Tungsten has the highest melting point of all the elements, and is harder than steel.
The Ram Tungsten starts with the current top of the line Limited, swapping in a light gray suede headliner and “Natura Plus” Frost and Indigo-colored leather throughout the cabin, complementing real wood trim.
The carpet is also Indigo-colored, with rubber floor mats and snap-out Frost and Indigo carpeted inserts.
Outside, a Tungsten Chrome grille with large R-A-M lettering, modeled after the Limited, in addition to a sport hood (1500 only). Headlamps use the Sport’s black surrounds.
In back, RAM is spelled out in large body-colored letters. Tungsten Chrome accents and badging, and unique painted Limited wheels, finish the exterior changes.
The Ram 1500 version has a standard air suspension; RamBox is standard on the Heavy Duty pickups with the short bed (6-foot, 4-inches).
All Tungstens have navigation, remote start, power adjustable pedals with memory, heated steering wheel, front ventilated and heated seats, heated rear seats, and support for Apple Car Play, Android Auto, and SiriusXM Guardian.
Ram Limited Tungsten trim will be available in the third quarter of 2017 on the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500. It will be used on single- and dual-rear-wheel versions; Crew Cab and Mega Cab (Heavy Duty); with four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive; and on short- and long-wheelbase models. Colors are metallic silver, bright white, black crystal, Delmonico Red Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic, Maximum Steel Metallic (1500 only), Pearl White, and True Blue Pearl.
The Ram 1500 Limited Tungsten Edition MSRP starts at $55,120.
More than 40% of the Ram 3500 Heavy Duty sales mix is in one of the brand’s three luxury trims.
