2018 Harvest Rams aimed at farmers

by David Zatz on

Ram is continuing its pitch to America’s farmers with a new series of modified trucks, in tractor-matching Case IH Red and New Holland Blue.   This is the first time Ram will stock trucks that exactly match the colors of farm equipment.

Case and New Holland were both owned by Fiat until being spun off as CNH Industrial, which explains why there is no John Deere Green or Mahindra Red option.

Mike Manley, who leads both Jeep and Ram, said that farmers had been asking for these colors, to “get their work done while proudly showing their agricultural brand loyalty.” The trucks were unveiled today at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, and will go on sale third quarter 2017.

Buyers can get Harvest Edition versions of the 2018 Ram pickups, regardless of capacity, cabin size, box length, or powertrain. The Ram 1500 Harvest has an extra inch of ride height to navigate fields and pastures; and all the Harvests have on/off-road tires for the same reason.

The Harvest Editions come with standard side steps and fold-out bumper step, a sprayed-in bed liner, mud flaps, rubber floor mats, skid plates, and heated seats. Ram Heavy Duty Harvest pickups also come with on/off-road tires and a cargo-view camera.

The Harvest Edition also includes an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C touch-screen radio with navigation, 4G Wi-Fi, Apple Car Play, and Android Auto, so weather maps and forecasts can be accessed from within the truck.

The exterior has bright highlights, a chrome “Wave Mesh” grille, bright bumpers, upgraded wheels (17-inch chrome on  1500, 18-inch polished aluminum on Heavy Duty), body-color (or silver) wheel flares, and chrome and door handles. The Ram 1500 V8 Harvest has chrome-tipped dual exhausts, and the Ram 1500 Harvest has a body-color or silver upper fascia.

Buyers who don’t want to show off Case or New Holland colors can get white or black; there are also optional monotone and two-tone with silver color schemes.

The Ram 1500 Harvest Edition starts at $39,910; the Ram Heavy Duty Harvest starts at $46,235. In both cases, the $1,395 destination charge is extra.
