Mercedes-Dodge, Jeep recalls

by David Zatz on

One of two recalls announced today is being conducted by Mercedes, for Dodge-labelled Sprinter vans.  2007-09 Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans, sold under the Dodge and Freightliner labels, are being recalled to replace the Takata airbag inflators. There are no known cases where the inflators have failed, but the flawed design makes eventual failure likely, especially in hot, humid regions. Owners can contact Daimler at 877-762-8267; this is recall 17V478000. It supersedes Recall 15V-354 and partially supersedes Recalls 16V-379 and 17V-025.

In addition, around 3,000 Jeep Renegades are being recalled because the “check engine” lamp may light up when there is no real problem.  This recall, which involves updated software and should be fairly fast for owners and dealers, will start on September 16.
