New, plush Rams launched in Texas

by David Zatz on

Today, for the State Fair of Texas, Ram unveiled new trim levels for two of its most popular models: the Laramie Longhorn and the Lone Star.

2018 Ram Longhorn Southfork

The Ram Laramie Longhorn, voted “Luxury Pickup of Texas” by the  Texas Auto Writers Association, gained a new Southfork edition with new Canyon Brown and Light Frost Beige Natura Plus full-grain leather seats.

Leather is also wrapped around the A- and B-pillar grab handles and the real-walnut-trimmed steering wheel. The headliner is a light gray suede, with (late availability) matching sun visors. The interior has galvanized-appearance trim and walnut-colored, ash wood accents,  as well as Ruby Red stitching.  The “Longhorn” badge stretches across the tailgate in bright chrome.

The Southfork edition is available in all current Laramie Longhorn colors, including a two-tone option with lower paint in RV Match Walnut Brown.

Laramie Longhorn Southfork trim is available on all four-door Ram pickups — 1500, 2500, and 3500; rear or four wheel drive; and long or short box. The Ram 1500 Southfork starts at $52,615, including destination, while the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty starts at $57,015.

The Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star Silver edition is available on the Ram 2500 and 3500 Crew Cabs, in rear and four wheel drive. Buyers can choose one of three engines — the 5.7 and 6.4 liter Hemi V8s, or the Cummins straight-six diesel boasting 930 pound-feet of torque. The Silver Edition starts at $46,130 including destination.

Updates include a new “luxury grille” with a chrome surround and wave mesh inserts; it also has new bright belt moldings, chrome  side-view mirrors and side steps, polished 20-inch wheels, and front tow hooks. A grille-mounted, aluminum Lone Star badge sets the Silver edition apart; and shows that it carries the new “Ram Care” service program.

The Lone Star Silver edition has cloth and vinyl high-back bucket seats in Canyon Brown and Light Frost Beige, or in Black and Diesel Gray.

Production of the 2018 Ram Laramie Longhorn Southfork and Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star Silver models will start this quarter at the Warren, Michigan and Saltillo, Mexico plants.
