CR: Chrysler #4 in satisfaction

by David Zatz on

Consumer Reports has not been known for giving Chrysler the benefit of the doubt for many years, but its latest survey results put Chrysler at #4 among all automakers in customer satisfaction.

Of note, this is not the magazine’s usual reliability survey, whose weaknesses we have pointed out even in years when Chrysler brands have done well; it’s a survey which looks at overall satisfaction.

Despite historically poor reliability, Tesla came out on top with a score of 90 of 100. Porsche and Genesis followed, at 85 and 81; then Chrysler showed up with a score of 78. That put Chrysler (the 300 and Pacifica) ahead of any Japanese and all but one German brand.

Ram came in at #12 (73 points), ahead of Chevrolet (72 points), GMC (72), and Ford (70) — and also ahead of Kia, BMW, Lexus, and Volvo.

Dodge and Jeep, unfortunately, came in at #20 and #21 (68 each), but this was still enough to be ahead of Mercedes Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Nissan. The lowest rated brand was Acura, #30, with 58 points.
