Features: V8, Hyundai, and Mopar

by David Zatz on

This week, Allpar is posting two brand new features and one heavily rewritten classic.

We start at the beginning — well, in any case, close to it, with coverage of Chrysler’s second completely new V8 engine family, the B series. Created to produce good, cheap power and torque from large cylinders, they were a reliable mainstay of the company for years, inside cars, pickups, buses, motor homes, and big rigs.  (Only Chrysler, one suspects, would think that the cross-ram wedge was a sensible engine for mass-production cars.)

Moving far, far forward in time, we test drove the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport, and compared it with the Dodge Dart. The Dart is, of course, at something of a disadvantage given five years of progress; but it was still interesting to see what Hyundai’s 201-horsepower 1.6 liter turbo-four would be like.

And, finally, we take you on that long-promised journey into the latest Mopar distribution center — situated in the same town as the DTW, Detroit’s international airport, and close to a cargo airport. This promises to be a remarkably efficient center for both domestic and global support, built with the input of Mopar’s own employees. Oh, and it’s really, really large.

We invite you to tell us how you feel about Allpar’s home page, in general, in the comments section below, as we look at alternatives for the future.
