Spied: 2020 Ram Power Wagon

by David Zatz on

Brian Williams caught his first photos of the 2020 RAM Power Wagon, being tested in the Detroit region.

Don’t expect many changes to the functional core of what is likely the best off-road pickup on the market; buyers will probably still get its front and rear locking differentials, long-travel front suspension (with anti-roll bar disconnect), and a Warn winch integrated into the front bumper.

Buyers will likely get styling closer to that of the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel, inside and out, with all the modern conveniences brought into the Ram line with the 2019s. The 12-inch screen would be handy to show front and rear camera feeds. The 6.4 liter V8 engine is likely to continue for the near future, too, with the same six-speed automatic (though an eight-speed is not impossible).

If you noticed changes to the 2019 Ram 1500’s frame, you may be expecting similar touches with the heavy-duty series. We can’t say either way right now.

Production is to begin — in Warren, Michigan, rather than the current version’s Mexican plant — in early 2020, with a first-look unveiling in late 2019 or early 2020.
