Meet the 2019 Ram Rebel 12 — yes, 12

by David Zatz on

First, let’s clarify the name — just like the Dodge Dart 440 did not have a 440 engine, the Ram Rebel 12 is not a 2012 Ram Rebel.

Instead, it’s the first Ram 1500 Rebel to come with a 12-inch UConnect touch-screen navigation system.  The idea, according to Ram chief Jim Morrison, came from customers, who “have been asking for additional high-end features on Rebel.”

The 12-inch reconfigurable touchscreen display is unique on pickups, and has split-screen capability. The pickup also has an industry exclusive on SiriusXM with 360L for on-demand content and a “personalized listening experience.”

Other amenities include leather, heated front seats, anodized-metal Radar Red speaker grilles, and what Ram is calling “the finest audio system ever available in a pickup” — a Harman Kardon 19-speaker setup driven by a 900-watt surround-sound amplifier with active noise cancellation.

The Ram 1500 Rebel makes off-roading easy with a factory lift, locking rear differential, 33-inch tires, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and tow hooks. The Rebel 12 setup will be optional on all Rebel cab, color, and powertrain configurations, starting at $46,990 plus $1,695 in destination costs in the continental U.S. It will be available in the fourth quarter of 2018, sent to buyers from the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (Michigan).
