2019 Ram 2500 with Mopar goodies debuts in Chicago

by Patrick Rall on

While the biggest news from FCA at the ongoing 2019 Chicago Auto Show is the introduction of the all-new Ram Chassis Cab lineup, the Mopar brand is drawing attention with the first modified example of the new 2500. This Blue Streak Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Big Horn is equipped with a handful of Mopar items that make it a much more rugged looking pickup, ready to tackle the roughest off-road driving conditions.

“The Mopar-modified Ram 2500 Heavy Duty on display at the Chicago Auto Show is the latest example of our commitment to offering owners a full product line to choose from right at launch of FCA US LLC vehicles,” said Steve Beahm, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar) and Passenger Car Brands, FCA – North America. “Whether it’s for the trail, the street or the worksite, Mopar will have more than 170 parts and accessories that provide a path to enhanced capability for the new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty.”

Moparized Heavy Duty

The truck shown here is a production-spec 2019 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Big Horn with four-wheel-drive and the 6.4-liter Hemi V8. Mopar started on the outside, adding some items that will be available for sale when the new Heavy Duty pickups begin hitting dealerships. This includes the “Ram Bar” in the bed topped by five 4,800-lumen LED off-road lights that are controlled by means of the integrated accessory switch panel in the cab, a rear bed step and a set of Mopar off-road wheel flares.

Mopar also added two concept items to this truck, the powder coated rock rails and the 17-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in Goodyear off-road tires.

On the inside, this Ram wears a set of brushed stainless steel door sill guards with the RAM font logo and a set of Mopar slush mats.

While the Ram 2500 shown here and on display in Chicago looks very sporty with its Mopar items, the simplicity of those upgrades illustrates just how sporty the new heavy duty trucks are in stock form. This is a Big Horn with wheels, rock rails, a rollover bar in the bed, a bed step and wheel flares, and it looks like a production off-road beast.

Other Items

In addition to the items shown on the Ram 2500 above, Mopar offers a long list of upgrades not shown on this new truck.

-Trailer camera: New for 2019 Ram Heavy Duty, camera integrates into the center console 12-inch screen for viewing the rear area behind the trailer

-Bed extender: Extends bed with tailgate down

Many, if not all of these items, will be available from Mopar as soon as deliveries of the all-new Ram heavy duty pickups begin reaching dealerships and new owners, so if anything mentioned here appeals to you and you are waiting on a next generation 2500 or 3500, check with your local dealership parts department for more information.
