New 500X, with FCA’s new engine, hits the USA

The 2019 Fiat 500X, closely related to the Jeep Renegade, has arrived in the United States as Fiat continues its four-model range in the face of exceedingly low sales.

The first batch arrived at the Port of Baltimore; others will show up at other ports. The cars feature a brand new turbocharged 1.3 liter engine which combines Fiat and Chrysler engine traditions and technologies to produce a surprising 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. In the 500X, it has a nine-speed automatic and engine stop-start system.

All US-spec Fiats now come with turbocharged standard engines.

The new 500X has a revised front and rear fascia, and optional adaptive cruise and front park assist. The starting price (for Pop) is $25,985, including destination; that includes 17 inch aluminum wheels, LED DRLs and tail lamps, and power and heated mirrors with turn signals. The stereo has CarPlay and Android compatibility.  The Trekking starts at $27,490, and the top Trekking Plus starts at $30,690, Trekking Plus and includes LED headlamps, leather seats, ambient lights, seven-inch touch screen, and navigation.
