2019 Ram HD diesel recall

by David Zatz on

Certain Cummins diesel-equipped 2019 Rams are being recalled because the fuel lines may leak into the engine compartment. This includes both 2500 and 3500 pickup, and all three chassis cab lines.

Only vehicles built from May 9 through May 18, 2019 are affected, based on supplier records. The problem was caused by a supplier making fuel line end fittings improperly for a relatively brief time; the leak is “of a ‘drip’ nature.”

Dealers will inspect the fuel lines and replace them if needed, at no cost to owners. The recall is expected to begin August 16, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is V76; NHTSA’s is 19V49800.

So far, there have been only four known cases of actual leakage, with no injuries or crashes resulting; fewer than 500 Rams sold in the U.S. are affected.
