What’s new for 2021 Durango, and how much will it cost? (Including the 710-horse Hellcat)

by David Zatz on

Add the $1,495 destination charge to all prices (continental US).

The 2021 Dodge Durango will start at $31,765, with some hefty upgrades.  Those include LED projector headlights, a new front fascia and grille, new LED daytime running lights, and updated rear spoiler and wheels. Inside, Durangos get a new cockpit including a new instrument panel; UConnect 5 is standard, and five times faster than the prior UConnect 4. What’s more, buyers can get up to a 10.1 inch touchscreen stereo.  Towing capacity starts at 6,200 pounds and goes up to 8,700 with the Hemi V8 and towing package.

Overall, the Durango is a better buy than it was just, well, now, with the 2020s still on sale. But what about the headlining act? Buyers could already get an incredibly potent 392 cubic inch Hemi V8 with stunning torque, but for 2021 models only, a new Hellcat model will be sold with 710 horsepower.

That model starts at $80,995 plus destination, still a bargain compared to any equivalent BMW — except there really are none. The Hellcat Durango is the most powerful SUV ever made.

Dealer orders are now open for the 2021 Durango line; full pricing is below. It seems that Dodge will keep the Durango going even after the new Grand Cherokee (on which it’s based) is replaced—good news for people who like to tow in comfort.

2021 MODEL With Destination
Durango SXT RWD $33,260
Durango SXT AWD $35,860
Durango GT RWD $37,460
Durango GT AWD $40,060
Durango R/T RWD $46,800
Durango R/T AWD $49,400
Durango R/T AWD Tow N Go $54,395
Durango Citadel RWD $49,300
Durango Citadel AWD $51,900
Durango SRT 392 AWD $64,490
Durango SRT Hellcat AWD $82,490

Update: in Canada, the prices range from $47,495 to $114,435, plus destination. The Citadel starts at $60,495.
