'12 Mopar 300 cars: Mopar-branded Chryslers

The first two Mopar-branded cars were based on the 2010 Dodge Challenger and 2011 Dodge Charger. The third, the Mopar '12 300 - released in Mopar's 75th anniversary year - was based on the flagship Chrysler 300 sedan.

A Mopar cover sat atop the 363 horsepower Hemi engine, backed by the five-speed W5A580 automatic transmission, with a unique Mopar shifter. The car had a different differential with a 3.91:1 final drive ratio (rather than 3.06) for higher acceleration, enabling 0-to-60 mph blasts in the low 5-second range.

The Mopar had 42% stiffer front spring rates and 23% stiffer rear spring rates than the 300's touring suspension. P245/45R20 Goodyear Eagle F1 three-season tires replace all-season radials, and high-performance brake linings were mounted to dual-piston front and single-piston rear calipers for fade-resistant stops. The wheels were painted a glossy black, with a bright Mopar blue stripe on the outer edge, giving the impression of bluewall (blue whitewall) tires.

Similar to the Chrysler 300S, the Mopar '12 300 had a blacked-out appearance with a Mopar black chrome seven-bar grille and grille-surround matching black-accented headlamp bezels and fascia accents. Highlighting the glossy black exterior were Mopar Blue A-line body-side stripes. Glass black 20-inch by 8-inch Mopar forged-aluminum wheels included Mopar center caps; there were also "Mopar 75" fender badges and a decklid "Mopar Design" badge.

The black interior had Mopar Blue accents and four heated, bolstered, perforated leather covered sport seats. Both driver and passenger get 12-way power seats.

A thick-rimmed steering wheel with die-cast paddle shifters and a Mopar shifter handle were wrapped in black leather with Mopar Blue thread. Sill plates and a serialized "Mopar '12 Limited Edition" badge joined matte carbon hydrographic accents on the instrument panel and center console areas, accompanied by glass black trim.

The car had Uconnect® 8.4 with a "Mopar" start-up screen, and a 506-watt Alpine nine-speaker audio system with a subwoofer, 12-channel amplifier, and digital signal processing (DSP) for 7.1-adapted surround sound.

The SafetyTec Group had adaptive-forward lighting, high-intensity discharge (HID) projector high and low-beams with automatic headlamp leveling, Forward Collision Warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross path detection, front and rear park assist, LED rear fog lamps, and exterior mirrors with turn signals. The car also had a garage door opener and rain-sensing wipers.

Just 500 of the Mopar '12 300s were built in Brampton, Ontario; the list price, including destination, was $49,700. They included a personalized owner kit, Mopar-branded key fobs, merchandise, a certificate, and an original sketch of the car signed by the designer.
