Hello! I could really use some help! My 05 cruiser convertible is acting funny. After the car is driven for a few minutes, the radio turns off and the power windows and top stop working. They work again after car sits and cools. But when the radio shuts off, all backlights to the knobs and buttons still work. I push clock button and it still displays time but that's it. None of it makes any sense. We just replaced switch in steering column because turn signals stopped working and fog lights wouldn't turn off. We have also recently replaced the alternator and battery.

Welcome to Allpar. Does tilting the steering column up or down slightly or moving the ign key very slightly towards the 'start' or 'off' positions affect it at all?

I saw that you replaced the switch for turn signals and f/lamps (the multifunction switch). You replaced the ignition switch also?
If you lose the radio, power windows and top all at the same time, it may be an ignition switch, wiring or PCI communications bus issue. The radio and door modules (the top control software resides in the drivers door module (DDM) can store useful fault codes to aid in diagnosis.
I might start diagnosis with a capable scan tool after ruling out wiring or ignition switch problems. Body fault codes are not OBD2 (like engine codes) and may require a more specialized tool.
If you go to a dealer, have any and all software updates installed for modules that have pending updates due.

Possible radio fault codes:
  • 7.2.1 ALL OUTPUTS SHORT
  • 7.2.2 ANTENNA HARDWARE FAILURE - SDARS
  • 7.2.3 ANTENNA NOT CONNECTED - SDARS
  • 7.2.4 BUS BUSY - SDARS
  • 7.2.5 BUS LOW - SDARS
  • 7.2.6 CASSETTE PLAYER INOP
  • 7.2.7 CD MECHANICAL FAILURE
  • 7.2.8 NO PCI TRANSMISSION
  • 7.2.9 *AM/FM SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.10 *ANY STATION PRESET SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.11 *BALANCE INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.12 *CD EJECT SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.13 *EQUALIZER INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.14 *FADER INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.15 *FF/RW SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.16 *HOUR/MINUTE SWITCHES INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.17 *PAUSE/PLAY SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.18 *PWR SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.19 *SCAN SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.20 *SEEK SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.21 *SET SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.22 *TAPE EJECT SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.23 *TIME SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.24 *TUNE SWITCH INOPERATIVE
  • 7.2.25 CD PLAY FAILURE
  • 7.2.26 CD READ FAILURE
  • 7.2.27 CD TEMPERATURE HIGH
  • 7.2.28 GPS ANTENNA NOT CONNECTED
  • 7.2.29 INTERNAL FAILURE - SDARS
  • 7.2.30 INTERNAL RECEIVER FAILURE - SDARS
  • 7.2.31 LOW VOLTAGE LEVEL
  • 7.2.32 NO ANTENNA CONNECTION
  • 7.2.33 NO COMMUNICATION WITH SDARS
  • 7.2.34 NO J1850 COMMUNICATION - SDARS
  • 7.2.35 POWER AMP SHUTDOWN
  • 7.2.36 RADIO AND NAV GPS ANTENNA NOT CONNECTED
WINDOW REGULATOR MODULES (PT27 ONLY) In each door of the PT27 there is a window regulator module directly connected to each of the front door window regulator motors.
The modules control window motor operation, smart glass functions and the convertible top operations (driver window module).
Each module is capable of setting trouble codes to aid in the diagnosis when a malfunction occurs. When a module must be replaced, it is necessary to replace the entire regulator assembly because of possible damage to the hall-effect sensor in the module.

Possible door module fault codes:

BATTERY VOLTAGE TOO HIGH
BATTERY VOLTAGE TOO LOW
FRONT WINDOW MOTOR MALFUNCTION
FRONT WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN
FRONT WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
FRONT WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT VALUE OUT OF RANGE
IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT OPEN
REAR WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT OPEN OR SHORTED
REAR WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN
REAR WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
REAR WINDOW SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT VALUE OUT OF RANGE
WINDOW DROP SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
*DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT OPEN
*DOOR WINDOWS STAY IN DROP DOWN POSITION
