That’s just 5 more than the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Ok, put your pitchforks down, I know EVs have no business in this thread. Props for sending the Challenger out on the most powerful note possible! I love it.

Last weekend, at a racetrack in east-central Kentucky, on a cold Saturday I watched two Tesla Plaid cars run 9.60s @ 147 on a barely prepped and ice cold and slippery track. On a warm day with a sticky NHRA prepped track they would easily be low 9 second production cars.

Point being that Dodge just BARELY took this Demon 170 to where it needed to go. And sometimes barely is all you need. Dodge now has the world's first ever 8-second production car. Congrats!

And to play off of that.... if the Tesla cars are only a couple of tenths slower, can you imagine what the Dodge boys will do with the new Charger Daytona EV? It won't have any heart or soul, but it will be insanely fast. I look for them to break their own record with another "world's fastest production car" within the next 3 years.

Let's hope it doesn't take 35 plus years to get back to that again.
[removed generalized EV comments]
I like they programmed in e85. San Diego has a lot of e85 stations from the 2008 shortages. But what you get out of e85 can be inconsistent.

I miss the days when people would be buying posters and dreaming of this car. Breaking down all the numbers. Showing comparisons with other Mopar Halo Cars and other brands.

Taking the chance to brag and brag and brag that Ma Mopar is king of the hill again.

The thread started out positive for this.

Guess this is what happens when you grow older.

Not even 15 posts till the mood changed and off topic to argue about something again.

Good times. This is true of all the conversations anymore every where.

Man does that Demon 170 look great. Can not wait to see it in more colors and up against some dedicated drag cars.

Anxious to see it run into the Tesla Plaid.

I dream of seeing one pull up to the rear view mirror and listen to it barrel down the highway or to the next light.

Anxious to search out the hot wheel with my son to add to his collection of all Mopar cars...yeah...I am raising a true Mopar enthusiasts.

Can not wait to build the Lego set like we have with the Demon and Hellcats.

Can not wait to go to Chrysler @ Carlisle to see this strip dominator in the flesh.

Hope they upgrade the Hellcat thrill ride to include a drag pull in this possessed creation.

Can not wait to see the true Mopar enthusiasts who buy these get them ever so closer to the 7s.

And yes...I am excited to see the Banshee...the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona too.

Mopar or No car. MoPower.

Move over people are racing

Move over power approaching rapidly

Mash on Pedal, Accelerate Rapidly

Mostly Over Powered and Respected....

I love Dodge's go get'um attitude.

As the people of Alpar all too often say...they been milking these cars too long...but, damn...they still have surprises and are still making and molding a generation of Mopar young guns.

As I predicted wayyyyy back when the Demon came out, each follow up generates less and less of a ripple and less and less of a marketing bang.
I think these cars will be spending more time in climate controlled storage than charging down the interstates unfortunately.

0-60 in 1.6 is amazing and a fantastic way to have an ICE swan song.

In the "good old days" the conversations degenerated as well to things like the 100 mpg carburetor, the Saudis paying the car companies to bury it, disc vs drum brakes, etc.

My meaning was...I was a child and times were easier to stay on topic, cause we didn't know we were supposed to be worried about other things...and followed in with...my son helps me relive those childish days.

There is no hope for on topic discussion anymore... 😂...heck 10 mins in I forget what we were talking about...😁
